How to Track Offline Store Footfall from Influencer Marketing Without Hardware

The biggest objection retail marketers have to influencer campaigns is that they cannot link a view on Instagram to a sale at the till. That gap is smaller than it looks.

These are the tracking methods we use for store launches, none of which need expensive hardware.

Four attribution methods

Creator-specific discount codes entered at billing. QR vouchers on a counter standee that customers scan to claim an offer. WhatsApp opt-in welcome vouchers, which also build a customer list. And baseline lift: comparing walk-ins and bills during the campaign with a comparable period before it.

Use at least two together. Codes undercount because not everyone uses them; lift analysis captures broader effect but cannot credit individual creators.

Geotags and Google Maps

Location tags on Reels and Stories let viewers tap straight to directions. Watch Google Business Profile direction requests and branded searches during the campaign — a spike in the publishing window is a useful signal.

Benchmark the first 30 days

Record normal walk-ins alongside creator-attributed transactions every day for the first month. This shows how much of the launch traffic carried on after the content stopped.

What to report to leadership

Content delivered and local reach, tracked redemptions per creator, footfall and bill-value lift versus baseline, cost per tracked visit and new customer sign-ups. Label clearly what is tracked and what is estimated.

The Bottom Line

Good tracking is a process, not a gadget. Influverse sets it up as part of every store launch.

Frequently asked questions
